10 Horror Film Franchises Worse Than Paranormal Activity
6. I Spit On Your Grave
Remaking the rape/revenge movie Roger Ebert described as sick, reprehensible and comtemptible is one thing, but turning it into a franchise where the sole element of interest is watching a brutalized woman murder her attackers is beyond a joke. No classic, Meir Zarchis 1978 caused walkouts by crew members and was picketed by feminists on release, but the most interesting thing you can say about about the 2010 remake is that it was too dull to stir up any controversy. It was a minor hit, however, so in 2013 the imaginatively titled I Spit On Your Grave 2 told the same story, which due to budgetary constraints took place in Bulgaria. Tragically, the makers of the third film in the series decided against using Thrice Spit On Your Grave as a title and instead opted for the blander I Spit On Your Grave: Vengeance Is Mine. The film brings back the heroine from the original, only this time her friend is brutally murdered by thugs, and you can probably figure out the rest of the story for yourself. Worst Offender: I Spit On Your Grave (2010), for cashing in on post-Saw torture porn.
