10 Horror Films For People Who Don’t Like Horror

5. Shaun of the Dead

How about one more comedy/horror entry? I was either going to stick Shaun of the Dead or Tucker and Dale Versus Evil here, but since I enjoyed the former more, I am going with the Simon Pegg and Nick Frost vehicle. Certainly zombies can be scary, but as evidenced by two films on this list and many others, they can also be funny. For the most part, zombies are depicted as slow-moving and rather brainless€”characteristics that make them ripe for mocking. And Edgar Wright€™s film does that perfectly. In fact, if anything I wish it stuck more fully in that territory and didn€™t feel the need to conform to the more traditional horror climax scenes. But at least they provide us with an amusing denouement. Again, I can€™t imagine horror junkies won€™t be satisfied by this flick as there is plenty of disgusting looking zombies trying to kill and eat the protagonists. And for the rest of us, we get to appreciate perfect British wit without having to then sleep with the light on.

I humbly claim the title of renaissance man. I am a professional writer (published playwright), college soccer coach, world traveler, crime-fighting vigilante, part-time juggler, serious hiker, coin collector, counseling student, and doting father/husband among many other roles. (OK, one of those may not be true.)
