This Canadian cult-classic revolves around six strangers who are forced to work together to escape a cube-shaped labyrinth.

Although it's fascinating to watch our ensemble try to devise an escape plan, viewers will have a barrage of questions swimming around their mind. "Who built the Cube?" "Why?" "What is its purpose?" "Where is it?" "Why were these people placed in it?" Because of the imaginative premise, the big reveal is expected to be equally ingenious.

Sadly, many viewers found the truth to be surprisingly underwhelming.

But that's the point. While other sci-fi flicks attempt to cook up the best twist possible, Cube went the other way, giving us an answer that's insultingly simple.

However, that is often the case in reality. The truth behind any news story, gossip, or conspiracy is usually so unsatisfying and mundane, society rejects it, in favour of their elaborate theory. Despite Cube's incredible visuals and mesmerising actions sequences, it's this message that stays with viewers most.

Even though Cube can be anticlimactic on the initial watch, this mind-warping flick is appreciated more upon repeated viewings. Cube is not trying to be clever... which is what makes it so freakin' clever.
