10 Horror Films You Didn't Know Were Being Remade

4. Anaconda

Columbia

Anaconda is a 1997 film starring Jennifer Lopez, Ice Cube, Eric Stoltz, Owen Wilson, and Jon Voight. Despite its goofy tone and poorly aged CGI, the movie is a cult classic among horror fans and was financially successful. It led to a sequel titled Anacondas: The Hunt for the Blood Orchid, as well as a string of Direct-to-DVD follow-ups.

But the reptile is about to make a comeback in cinemas as Columbia Pictures recently revealed plans on remaking Anaconda. The film will be written by Evan Daugherty, who wrote the recent Tomb Raider and the 2014 Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. Though no concrete story plans have been revealed, the remake will be a 'reimagining', so don't expect a 1-on-1 recreation of the original.

It has also been confirmed that Sony and Columbia want the new film closer to the movie The Meg. To those who forgot, the Jason Statham adventure pitted the actor against an oversized prehistoric shark. If that's anything to note, then Anaconda will be a blockbuster event film rather than the B-movie scares of the original.
