This entry does stretch the notion of 'not surviving' to be honest, but if being sucked into a dimension of torture whilst trapped by a paranormal creature that feeds off your pain counts as REALLY surviving, then I think we can all agree it isn't worth it. Callie might not explicitly die in Absentia, but she definitely will be by way of her dark, ugly fate.

When Tricia Russel's husband goes missing for years on end, she finally reaches a point where she can let him go, calling upon her ex-addict sister Callie to support her in declaring him dead in absentia. But what should have been a simple signature that seals the deal in Tricia's moving on turns out to be a summoning force, with Daniel returning out of nowhere the very day she commits.

Callie learns his disappearance wasn't voluntary, with a strange insectoid creature kidnapping him and hiding him in the walls of a tunnel. And when it takes Tricia too, she does all the reading on how to get her back - offering her own life as a trade.

The creature doesn't play fair though, and instead of Tricia, Callie gets her sister's unborn fetus instead, whilst still taking her for their deal.
