10 Horror Movie "Facts" That Aren't Actually True
1. Everything About Bela Lugosi's Dracula
Bram Stoker's novel, Dracula, was so ground-breaking, the title character has been adapted into countless movies over the last century. But the most famous version of all time is the 1931 film, Dracula, with Bela Lugosi depicting the Romanian vampire. It was this film that depicted many concepts that are now synonymous with Dracula including his unblinking eyes, his calm demeanour, his hypnotic powers, and his vulnerability to crosses and wooden stakes.
However, there are many traits that people associate with Dracula that don't happen in the film. At no point in this movie does Dracula display fangs or transform into a bat. Lugosi's Dracula showcased his transformation powers for the first time in the 1948 comedy, Abbot and Costello Meets Frankenstein. There is no shot of a neck-bite and Dracula never says, "I vant to suck your blood." even though this line has been parodied umpteen times.
On top of that, this isn't the first vampire movie. It's not even the first Dracula movie! 1909's Vampire of the Coast was the first vampire film while 1921's Dracula's Death was the first film to depict the Transylvanian Count.
