10 Horror Movie Characters Everyone Hated (But Survived)
5. Jocasta - Last Night In Soho
Last Night in Soho's Jocasta (Synnøve Karlsen) is a bitch-with-a-capital-B alright.
The groan-inducingly self-absorbed roommate of protagonist Ellie (Thomasin McKenzie), Jocasta slags off Ellie's dress sense, cracks jokes about her mother's suicide, and even makes the bold bet that Ellie will "slash her wrists before Christmas." Yikes.
Beyond all this and being wildly into herself, it's also implied that Jocasta may or may not have spiked Ellie's drink at the Halloween party, ensuring there was an expectation that something nasty would befall this noxious individual before film's end.
But it never does. Despite a near-miss incident where Ellie almost stabs Jocasta with a pair of scissors while hallucinating, she's entirely unscathed when the end credits roll, and even gives Ellie a probably-sarcastic round of applause at her end-of-year fashion show.
When you invest this much time in building up a deeply terrible person, for them to then walk away scot-free is deeply frustrating to say the least. Ms. Collins/Sandie (Diana Rigg) could've done Ellie a solid by adding Jocasta to the pile of corpses hidden in the walls of her house, no?
