10 Horror Movie Characters Everyone Hated (But Survived)

2. Freddie Harris - Halloween: Resurrection

Halloween: Resurrection is a strange beast of a sequel, not least that it opens with its most likeable character, Laurie Strode (Jamie Lee Curtis), being killed, and then ends with its most hateable character actually surviving against all odds. Subversion!

We're talking of course about Freddie Harris, the obnoxious TV producer who is the mastermind behind the livestreamed Internet show at Michael Myers' (Brad Loree) childhood home.

Freddie is a blatant harbinger of cringe from the moment we meet him, from his atrocious one-liners to his generally slimy demeanour.

And that he's then the one to thoroughly school Michael - kung-fu kicking him, electrocuting his crotch, and making toe-curlingly lame quips like "Trick or treat, motherf**ker" - only makes him that much easier to hate.

Indeed, Freddie defeats Michael and lives to fight another day, but in perhaps the ultimate proof that test audiences are largely useless, he was actually originally supposed to die during the movie's climax.

Test screening feedback, for whatever reason, suggested that people actually liked Freddie, and so his demise at Michael's hands was tossed out and replaced with... this nonsense.

As a small consolation prize, the franchise has basically spent the last 20 years trying to pretend that Freddie - and Halloween: Resurrection as a whole - never happened.
