10 Horror Movie Characters Given Last Minute Deaths

6. Alice Martin - Halloween II (1981)

The very first victim at the start of the original Halloween II is poor Alice Martin (Anne Bruner), a Haddonfield High School student who ends up on the business end of Michael Myers' (Dick Warlock) kitchen knife.

As much as Alice's death seems like a totally conventional slasher sequel opening, it wasn't originally included in the film at all.

After the first movie's director John Carpenter, who also wrote Halloween II, saw director Rick Rosenthal's first cut of the movie, he felt that it wasn't gory or scary enough.

And so, Carpenter oversaw a round of reshoots to amp up the film's violence, shooting numerous scenes himself, including Alice's death.

The story of Alice is an especially interesting one considering that she was initially supposed to appear in the first Halloween as one of Laurie's friends, yet was given a stay of execution through her absence.

But alas, that was short-lived, as feeling Halloween II needed a little more oomph, he decided to end poor Alice's reprieve and serve her up to The Shape.
