Similarly to Mr. Strahm, Julie James sort of qualifies for this list twice. 

At the end of I Know What You Did Last Summer, the teen (played by Jennifer Love Hewitt) thinks she has escaped the clutches of Ben Willis, the villainous hook-handed man who hunts her and her friends throughout the film. Then, whilst she’s in the shower, Ben crashes through the glass door. 

This would imply that Julie was killed, right? Sure… until the sequel came along. 

I Still Know What You Did Last Summer portrays Julie alive and well, so either the shower thing was a hallucination or it got retconned out of existence. 

This time, the protagonist and her boyfriend Ray not only have to deal with Ben again, but also his son Will. They overcome the familial duo and a flash-forward at the end of the movie shows that they got married. 

Julie is sat on the bed when she spots Ben hiding underneath it. He pulls her under by the ankles, as her screams close out the film.

This could have been another hallucination, but considering that Julie doesn’t appear in any further sequels, Ben might have actually got her this time.
