10 Horror Movie Characters Who Die In The Very Last Scene

8. Marge Thompson - A Nightmare On Elm Street

Unfriended 2014 Ending 1280x720
New Line Cinema

The original ending to Wes Craven’s A Nightmare on Elm Street would have seen Nancy Thompson defeat Freddy Krueger in her dream and then wake up to find everything back to normal.

A nice idea, but not one that producer Robert Shaye was particularly interested in. He wanted more violence, so Craven gave it to him.

In the theatrical cut, Nancy still beats the glove-wielding psycho and wakes up to what she thinks is a happy ending. Several of the people killed by Freddy have come back to life, including her mother Marge, who was smothered by the monster just a few minutes earlier.

Breathing a huge sigh of relief, Nancy gets in her friend’s car to go to school, but then some nearby kids start singing a grimly familiar nursery rhyme.

Stupid kids - why couldn’t you have kept your mouths shut?

Ol’ Stabby Fingers makes his big return by bursting through the door of the Thompson house and grabbing Marge, pulling her through the hole he just made. While her death is never explicitly shown, it doesn’t take a genius to put two and two together.
