10 Horror Movie Characters Who Died Breaking Their Own Rules
8. David - Shaun Of The Dead
Anybody who has seen iconic zombie outing Shaun of the Dead even once is familiar with just how much Dylan Moran's David despises Shaun.
The 2004 masterpiece is one of the seminal films of the genre, arguably the godfather of 21st century comedic horror. It also introduced mainstream audiences to the comedic partnership of Simon Pegg and Nick Frost, who used the film as a springboard for their wildly successful Cornetto trilogy.
Moran's dour Irishman harbors secret romantic feelings for Shaun's girlfriend Liz, despite the fact that he is going out with her friend Diane. As such, he has a rule that he sticks to rigidly; undermine Shaun as much as possible. David attempts to steadily chip away at his relationship with Liz and never failing to provide a pessimistic, lambasting soundbite, even in the midst of a zombie apocalypse.
David's petulant mandate manifests itself in hilariously petty ways across the film, eventually culminating with him attempting to shoot Shaun after the latter punches him in the aftermath of Shaun's mother's death. The Irishman seems genuinely remorseful after Diane unleashes an impassioned tirade where she makes it clear that she is aware of his feelings for Liz.
Unfortunately - in the midst of breaking his inherent rule and being NICE to Shaun by apologizing - David is promptly dragged out of the window and ripped to bloody shreds by the frenzied zombies.
