10 Horror Movie Characters Who Died (But Survived The Remake)

9. Gage Creed - Pet Sematary

Mary Lambert's 1989 adaptation of Stephen King's Pet Sematary is a cracking movie full of all kinds of charm - special praise, obviously, going to the brilliant Fred Gwynne - and some genuine frights. It's also a picture that pretty much follows the exact same path as King's 1983 novel.

Said path involves the tragic early death of young Gage Creed (Mike Hughes), which sets in motion so much of what's to come from the tale. Having already learnt of a nearby cemetery that can bring things back from the dead, Creed family patriarch Louis (Dale Midkiff) uses this sinister plot of land to reanimate his son.

Given how the tagline of Pet Sematary was "Sometimes, dead is better", it's safe to say that Gage's resurrection doesn't exactly work out all that well; the two-year-old now having a murderous edge to him.

Thankfully for Gage, Kevin Kölsch and Dennis Widmyer's 2019 Pet Sematary remake spares the youngest Creed child. Instead, this do-over opts to kill off Gage's older sister Ellie in his place - with her then being brought back to life via the mysterious cemetary.
