5. Mercury - The Hills Have Eyes

To some die-hard horror hounds, the real hero of The Hills Have Eyes - both the original and the remake - is Beast, the German Shepherd pet of the Carter family.

Having seen several of his family members and fellow pooch Beauty killed off by the mutants of the movie, Beast has had enough of this sh*t and plays a major role in taking down Papa Jupiter and his twisted clan. In Wes Craven's 1977 Hills Have Eyes, one such mutant who Beast takes out is Mercury.

There, Beast jumps at the childlike Mercury and knocks him off a cliff. While Beast once again helps take out the mutants in Alexandre Aja's 2006 remake, Mercury isn't one of his targets.

In Aja's spin on this tale, Mercury is an actual child rather than just having the mind of a youngster. Despite the seriously messed up things that happen in that movie, even this redo doesn't go as far as killing off a kid - and thus, Mercury is one of the sparse few who end up surviving the '06 Hills Have Eyes.
