Will Poulter (or ‘that guy with the eyebrows’ to you and me) might have done his job a little too well in 2019’s folk-horror Midsommar.

Poulter’s character Mark is a knob stain right from the beginning of the film. He urges Christian to break up with Dani (which honestly would have turned out better for him), but not out of concern that their relationship is a tad toxic. No no, he’s worried that Christian is missing out on casual sex with random waitresses.

After the murder-suicide that kills Dani’s entire family, Mark isn’t particularly supportive or even kind to her, outright resenting the fact she’s joining his lads on tour trip to Sweden.

However the final nail in the coffin is when he alleviates himself on an ancestral tree, revealing himself to be a careless fool. His fate is hinted at earlier in the film, when a group of children are playing a game called ‘skin the fool’… it’s exactly what it says on the tin.
