5. Norma - Carrie
No character archetype raises quite as much ire in audiences like a good old-fashioned high school bully, and Carrie had quite the pick of the litter in that regard. It was hard to choose which of the cartoonishly terrible teenagers in this story to showcase, but seeing as how Norma is the one who ultimately pushed poor Carrie over the edge, I'd say she wins out.
As fun as it is in the otherwise mediocre 2013 remake to see Norma and the other bullies get their comeuppance in gloriously brutal fashion, the De Palma original better threaded the needle of making such outlandishly brutal treatment of the protagonist more raw and real. Which makes the iconic burning down of the school dance hit all the harder.
We technically don't see Norma bite it, but we do get to see her get hit with a fire hose and knocked out. And if you've ever been around a fire hose, you know just from looking at it that getting hit by one full blast is not fun. Actress P. J. Soles actually had one of her eardrums ruptured because De Palma refused to listen to those pesky sensible people and their logic and actually hit her with an actual firehose.
As for Norma, for dropping that bucket of blood on Carrie's head at her moment of triumph, Norma is implied to have been knocked out by the firehose and left to burn alive with the rest of her class.
