10 Horror Movie Cliffhangers Nobody Cared About
7. The Game Goes Viral - Truth Or Dare
It's almost impressive that Blumhouse's Truth or Dare grossed close to $100 million worldwide back in 2018 and almost immediately evaporated from the collective cultural consciousness.
Despite its undeniably fun premise, where a cursed version of the titular game ends up killing its participants, the atrocious script and sanitised PG-13 rating prevented it from realising its full campy potential.
To its very mild credit, the film does at least take a fairly bold, sequel-baiting swing in the final stretch, albeit one which also made a large quotient of viewers roll their eyes.
Realising there's no way for her to escape the game, protagonist Olivia (Lucy Hale) instead posts a YouTube video inviting anybody who watches it to play, effectively elongating her own life by turning the game into a worldwide event where her next turn won't come for a good while.
It's an ending both deeply stupid and amusingly bonkers, teeing up a sequel where the game presumably cases widespread chaos the world over.
And yet, given that the movie has largely been forgotten since release and a sequel still hasn't materialised, it's safe to say that this insane cliffhanger just didn't resonate with anyone - audiences or studio execs alike.
