10 Horror Movie Deaths That Could've Been WAY Better
1. Detective Halloran - Jigsaw
The Saw franchise is best known for its carnival of stomach-churning death scenes, as a band of hapless victims are placed in traps designed to test their will to survive - but most often just turn them to bloody paste.
But 2017's Jigsaw ended up whiffing its most elaborate and pivotal death scene right at the end of the movie, when corrupt Detective Halloran (Callum Keith Rennie) gets his head split open by a laser cutter at the behest of John Kramer's (Tobin Bell) secret apprentice Logan (Matt Passmore).
Yet rather than execute the death scene practically, as almost every single death scene in the series has been up to this point, we're forced to watch a terrible CGI recreation of Halloran's head split open and unfold like a fleshy, poorly detailed flower.
It's just far too video game-y for a Saw movie and takes the audience out of what should be one of the most nauseating death scenes in the whole series.
Obviously executing this scene practically would've likely been extremely challenging, costly, and time-consuming for a series known for its sensible budgeting, but clearly the "figure it out in post" approach didn't work either.
