10 Horror Movie Deaths That Could've Been WAY Better

2. Pennywise - It Chapter Two

It Chapter Two is an incredibly messy conclusion to Andy Muschietti's initially promising Stephen King adaptation, and a big part of what makes it so deflating? The utterly risible manner in which Pennywise (Bill SkarsgÄrd) is defeated.

The final battle sees the adult members of the Losers Club heading down into Derry's sewers, where Pennywise is now a horrifying spider-like entity.

The Losers eventually realise how to defeat Pennywise - make him feel small. And so, they go about verbally berating him, repeatedly calling him a clown and a bully, causing him to start shrinking as his influence over the Losers diminishes.

Pennywise is eventually left a pathetic, shrunken shadow of his former self, at which point Mike (Isaiah Mustafa) rips out his heart and the Losers collectively tear it to pieces. Pennywise then promptly dies and his body evaporates.

While Pennywise's transformation from a terrifying monster who thrives on fear to a laughable husk is precisely the point of the scene, the execution could use some work.

It's tough not to chuckle at the thought of an ancient shapeshifting creature being defeated by unimaginative childlike insults, and the fact that Pennywise looks like a soggy balloon in his final moments is also a bit silly.

With some presentational changes, though, this could've easily been much better.
