10 Horror Movie Deaths That Could've Been WAY Better

6. Spencer Lewis - Freddy's Dead: The Final Nightmare

It Chapter Two Pennywise Death

As the increasingly gimmicky death scenes in the A Nightmare on Elm Street series are concerned, the idea for this one wasn't terrible, but the execution? Hoo boy.

Stoner Spencer (Breckin Meyer) is killed by Freddy (Robert Englund), who traps him inside a video game in his dreams which Freddy is manipulating with a crude video game controller.

In the end, Spencer is killed when Freddy knocks him off a ledge in the game, which is replicated in reality by Spencer falling down some stairs and into a pit.

Again, there are some neat ideas here, but between the aged-like-milk effects - where Breckin Meyer is poorly composited into the cartoony, butt-ugly video game - and toe-curling silliness of Spencer bouncing around in real life while Freddy is attacking him in-game, it's just a bit embarrassing to watch.

This feels a bit too much like somebody with no knowledge of video games trying to make something "cool for the kids." With a clearer sense of its own internal logic and better visuals, though, this could've actually been fun.
