10 Horror Movie Deaths That Could've Been WAY Better

In fairness, we have to consider what "better" really means here, because if the death of protagonist Alex's (Kathryn Newton) best friend Ben (Matt Shively) in Paranormal Activity was meant to be genuinely terrifying - as opposed to totally, gut-bustingly hilarious - then the filmmakers abjectly failed.

Near the end of the film, Ben goes to Alex's house to warn her that she's being pursued by a coven, but upon entering, he hears a loud thud upstairs and, this being a horror movie, of course he goes to investigate.

Ben eventually enters Alex's bedroom and checks her laptop, at which point a possessed Katie (Katie Featherston) suddenly appears behind him and snaps his neck, killing him immediately.

Yet what should be a shocking and brutal death is rendered unintentionally hilarious by both the ludicrously over-the-top neck crunch sound effect and the jarringly sudden cut to Katie dragging his corpse away a second later.

Seriously, just try watching it without laughing your ass off. Or are we just a bit sick?

If the filmmakers toned down the neck snap sound effect and ditched the comedic jump cut, this could've actually been legitimately terrifying.
