10 Horror Movie Endings That Made You Say WHAT?!

2. Drag Me To Hell

Evil Dead
Universal Pictures

In Drag Me To Hell, a loan officer called Christine Brown is told by her boss that she's too soft to get promoted. To prove him wrong, she refuses to give out a loan for a woman called Ganush, resulting in her losing her house. Furious, Ganush places a hex on Christine's button, condemning her to Hell.

Although Christine tries to make peace with Ganush, that becomes impossible when the old crone dies. After being tormented with hallucinations, possession, and nightmarish nosebleeds, Christine learns she can pass on the hex by offering her cursed button to another. Tempted to give the button to a colleague she hates, she decides to place it on Ganush's grave, seemingly reversing the hex.

But in the climax, Christine realises she gave up the wrong button, meaning she's still in possession of the cursed one. Before she has a chance to remedy this, a horde of demons burst from the ground and cast her into Hell.

Even though there are a lot of horror films where the protagonist winds up dead, viewers really believed Christine would make it out alive. Despite the fact she had the perfect opportunity to pass the curse onto a person who deserved it, she chose not to, affirming she is a decent human being. The fact that her fate was caused by a simple mistake makes her damnation all the more shocking.
