10 Horror Movie Endings That Pissed Everyone Off

3. A Hilariously Terrible Death - Freddy's Dead: The Final Nightmare

Full disclosure: For a long time, Freddy's Dead: The Final Nightmare was the most disappointing movie I had ever seen. As the finale of the Nightmare on Elm Street saga it had a whole lot to live up to, but the movie barely even felt like it belonged to this franchise - not helped by the name itself being dropped from the title.

With a pivot to more overt "comedy", The Final Nightmare was more of a fever dream than anything else. Here you had Freddy killing teens with the Nintendo Power Glove and partaking in full scale parodies of scenes from the Wizard of Oz.

All of this would be fine, however, if the filmmakers managed to nail the ending and give Freddy a satisfying send off. This was a character who had been killed so many times before, so something special was needed to make this a spectacle.

So, what creative demise did the writers come up with? Death by pipe bomb.

After a fight with his daughter, Krueger is exploded by a pipe bomb, and the worst CGI 'dream demons' come flying out of him and towards the screen. That's all folks.

It's an embarrassing end for such an icon.
