10 Horror Movie Franchises That Stupidly Killed Off Their Best Character

9. Paxton Rodriguez - Hostel: Part II

Dewey Scream

In Eli Roth's Hostel, Paxton and his buddies are backpacking through Slovakia, when they are lured into a building that's run by the Elite Hunting Club.

To Paxton's horror, he learns this organisation allows its clients to dismember and butcher tourists in any way they see fit. Although his friends are slaughtered, Paxton narrowly escapes, murdering anyone who helped the sadistic club members.

Because Hostel made almost 20 times its budget, a sequel was practically guaranteed. Sadly, Hostel: Part II started on a downer, with Paxton losing his head in the prologue.

Paxton may not be a deep character, but viewers had every right to be pissed off by his death. This guy had endured more trauma than most people will experience in ten lifetimes. Seeing his best friend's mutilated corpse is enough to scar anyone for life. And when he had the chance to escape from this nightmarish facility, Paxton went back to save a woman he barely knew. Because of heroic behaviour like this, it would've been nice to see Paxton ride off into the sunset.

Instead, he was killed off in the beginning of the sequel, purely for shock value.
