10 Horror Movie Franchises That Stupidly Killed Off Their Best Character

8. Alexander Isaacs - Resident Evil: Extinction

Despite spawning six instalments, Paul W.S. Anderson's Resident Evil franchise was never well-received by critics. However, the zombie saga had some bright spots, especially Dr. Alexander Isaacs (Iain Glen).

Although Albert Wesker is the overarching antagonist in the video game series, his film counterpart was pretty laughable. Dr. Alexander Isaacs, on the other hand, was a far more compelling (and less cringey) character. Even when he's standing beside zombies, undead Rottweilers, or Nemesis, the master virologist always comes across as a greater threat.

So, when T-Virus-powered heroine Alice (Milla Jovovich) battled a super-zombie version of Isaacs in Resident Evil: Extinction, it felt like the perfect way to wrap things up.

Yet, it was ultimately decided the underwhelming franchise should continue on for three more films. And since Isaacs was the best villain by far, the filmmakers had to bring him back for Resident Evil: The Final Chapter, explaining that the original "Isaacs" was a clone. Because this lame excuse has "Somehow, Palpatine returned" vibes, it would've been more sensible if the dastardly scientist wasn't executed in the first place.
