10 Horror Movie Franchises With No Bad Movies

7. Gremlins

Fear Street Part 2: 1978 Sadie Sink
Warner Bros. Pictures

Whether or not we ever get the long-discussed third Gremlins movie, the two big-screen Mogwai offerings to date are pretty darn fantastic.

Yes, some horror hounds like to see wall-to-wall gore and grotesqueness, but there's something to be said about a sturdy serving of horror that's suitable for all the family. And yes, 1990's Gremlins 2: The New Batch may not have been met with quite the critical and box office response as its 1984 predecessor, yet that sequel is nowadays held up as a bona fide classic alongside that first Gremlins.

For both Gremlins films, there are of course three core rules at play where it pertains to the mogwai on offer. Don't expose them to light, water is off limits, and absolutely do not ever, ever feed them once the clock strikes midnight.

Whether it's the Christmas-set - yet released in June - Gremlins or its high-rise science lab-driven sequel, this two-feature franchise brings the humour, brings some phenomenal creature designs, and manages to bring some genuinely creepy, sinister moments . All while a sense of devilish mischief is at play from the spawn of Gizmo.

Sure, this year has brought us the animated Gremlins: Secrets of the Mogwai series, but how 'bout we finally get that Gremlins 3 now, yeah?
