10 Horror Movie Franchises With Only One Great Movie

6. Final Destination

Final Destination
Dimension Films

In a break from tradition, it's actually the last movie in this franchise that's the good one rather than the first.

The first Final Destination had a neat concept - Death stalking a group of people who survived a plane crash due to a psychic vision - but was let down by bad acting and a lack of suspense.

The films continued to make money, so they kept getting made, right up until 2011's Final Destination 5. Instead of a plane crash, the main character's foresight saves his friends from a bridge collapse. So far, so samey.

However, this movie was seen by many as the best execution of the premise to date. Critics loved the film's use of 3D, as well as its creative kill scenes and excellent special effects.

It might have taken them over a decade to get there, but Final Destination was finally doing something right! So why haven't there been any additions to the franchise since this film?

Creator Jeffrey Riddick has promised a new movie soon, one that will break the series' established formula, so we'll just have to wait and see if they can carry on the momentum of over a decade ago.
