10 Horror Movie “Mistakes” That Were Totally Intentional

9. Stab's Fake Knife - Scream 2

This one's really funny. Scream 2 starts with the iconic scene set at a wild fan screening of Stab - an in-universe horror movie based off the events of the Scream first film.

In the film-within-a-film, Heather Graham plays Casey Becker, the first victim of Ghostface in the original Scream, as was then played by Drew Barrymore.

Her death plays out similarly to Casey's actual death in Scream, but when Ghostface first plunges his knife into her chest, you might notice that the knife is very blatantly a fake, retractable one - and one that causes no wound on Casey.

This isn't a mistake on the part of director Wes Craven but actually an intentional attempt to poke fun at a similar mistake from the original sequence in the first film.

When Casey dies in Scream, she's indeed stabbed in the chest by Ghostface, but the first shot of her being stabbed shows no blood being drawn for some reason. It's not until the shot cuts to her laying on the floor that we actually see her sweater covered in the red stuff.

Many fans brought this mistake up upon the film's original release, and so Craven decided to have a little fun in the sequel by deliberately recreating the gaffe.
