10 Horror Movie Moments Everyone Was Waiting For (That Never Happened)

3. Elizabeth Discovers The Truth - Alien: Covenant

It's no secret the Alien franchise has been in a downward spiral for decades. Nevertheless, sci-fi fans couldn't help getting excited for the 2012 prequel, Prometheus. Not only was the original director, Ridley Scott, helming the project, Prometheus would finally reveal the origin of the Xenomorphs.

Or so we believed. Two hours later, viewers were left with more questions than answers. Like, A LOT of questions.

But there was still a glimmer hope. In the film's closing moments, our heroine, Elizabeth Shaw, ventures into space to find the home planet of the Engineers - the extra-terrestrials who supposedly created the Xenomorphs.

Because Prometheus is infamous for its plot holes, you'd think Ridley Scott would bend over backwards to ensure all the story arcs tied up neatly in the sequel, Alien: Covenant.

Instead, the plot was left more muddled than ever. Rather than focusing on Elizabeth Shaw's character, it's casually explained that she died in a crash after she reached the Engineers' world.

Because Promtheus left a nasty taste in our mouth, a lot of people watched this sequel just to get some closure. But since Elizabeth never makes an appearance, (except as a dismembered corpse), Covenant left viewers more disappointed than Prometheus did.
