10 Horror Movie Remakes That Were Just Announced

9. The Faculty

There's a lot of love for The Faculty, Robert Rodriguez's 1998 sci-fi horror film that's basically a high school-set remake of Invasion of the Body Snatchers.

With a smart script from Scream's Kevin Williamson and a superb ensemble cast - including Josh Hartnett, Elijah Wood, Jordana Brewster, Clea DuVall, Famke Janssen, Robert Patrick, and Jon Stewart - The Faculty remains one of the most distinctive and popular teen horrors of its era.

Feelings were certainly mixed, then, when a remake was recently announced, even though Rodriguez will return as a producer, while writer-director duties will be promisingly undertaken by Companion filmmaker Drew Hancock.

The Faculty was just such a lightning-in-a-bottle, of-its-era movie that it's tough to picture a remake recapturing the same zeitgeist feel. And while Hancock's involvement is encouraging given the recent success of Companion, this new take will ultimately live or die on the strength of its wider cast. This thing needs to be stacked deep.
