10 Horror Movie Scenes You Remember Totally Wrong
2. Hannibal Never Says "Hello, Clarice" - Silence Of The Lambs
In Silence of the Lambs' opening, FBI Agent Clarice Starling is introduced to prisoner Hannibal Lecter after being informed he can assist with her case.
The scene is simple in concept, but plays out like a work of art. Anthony Hopkins is so mesmerising as the charismatic cannibal, nearly every utterance he makes has been absorbed into pop culture. People who've never seen Silence of the Lambs should be familiar with phrases like, "Quid pro quo, Clarice" and "I ate his liver with some fava beans and a nice chianti".
And who could forget about Hannibal's opening line, "Hello, Clarice"? Just thinking about these two simple words is enough to unsettle anyone.
However, Hannibal never says this sentence during this classic scene. Instead, the demented doctor says "Good morning" when greeted with Clarice.
Although die-hard fans would bet good money this line is in the movie, they are misremembering the scene because it's been endlessly parodied in other properties, including Dr. Dolittle 2, The Cable Guy, and Hoodwinked 2: Hood vs Evil.
Still, moviegoers will be happy to know Hannibal says "Hello, Clarice" when the pair are reunited in the sequel.
