10 Horror Movie Sequels Coming Out In 2021
8. The Forever Purge
This is the fifth and supposedly final instalment of the Purge franchise. In a world where once a year all crime is legal for 12 hours in America, we see the worst side of humanity rearing its ugly head.
This is another one where the smaller details of the plot have been kept under wraps so far, but some rumours have been circulating that maybe The Forever Purge will focus less on the inner city and go a bit more rural.
Luckily for the production team, they wrapped back in February - which was perfectly timed for avoiding corona’s wrath. However, they did have to take the L on their theatrical release, which was meant to have happened back in July but the world was a bit too busy falling apart.
Whilst franchise creator James DeMonaco is stayed to write the film, he recruited a new director in Everardo Gout. Much like with The First Purge and Gerard McMurray, DeMonaco hasn’t gone for a safe bet in a seasoned practitioner: Gout’s only previously directing credit is from the 2011 thriller Days of Grace.
We’ll have to wait until 2021 to see if the gamble pays off.
