10 Horror Movie Sequels MASSIVELY Better Than The Original

2014's The Conjuring spin-off Annabelle was, frankly, terrible, and considering it came from the filmmaker behind Mortal Kombat: Annihilation and The Butterfly Effect 2, that shouldn't be terribly surprising.

The bar was low for sequels to improve upon the first Annabelle's flimsy setup, uninteresting characters, and largely limp scares, but after 2017's prequel Annabelle: Creation proved the franchise had actual promise, threequel Annabelle Comes Home straight-up confirmed it.

Though the third Annabelle film certainly isn't great, it is a marked improvement over the original, delivering a greater balance of well-crafted funhouse scares and meaningful character development.

Annabelle Comes Home feels like far more of an actual movie than the original, which whiffed of the most cynical sort of franchise cash-in for a quick, easy buck.

All in all, though, the world probably doesn't need anymore Annabelle movies, right?
