10 Horror Movie Sequels With ONE Great Scene
6. The Bathtub - The Ring Two
The Ring Two is a disappointingly bland sequel to Gore Verbinski's surprisingly solid 2002 remake of J-horror classic The Ring, and its lousiness proves all the more shocking because this follow-up is actually directed by Hideo Nakata, who helmed the original 1998 Ringu.
Though The Ring Two is undeniably best remembered for its infamous CGI deer attack sequence, there's a single scene which approaches the artistry and imagination of the better films in the series.
When protagonist Rachel (Naomi Watts) is giving her son Aidan (David Dorfman) a bath, she enters the room to find water rising upwards from the tub onto the ceiling.
After reaching Aidan, the water falls back down to the ground, and when Rachel returns to the tub, her son appears to have transformed into the terrifying Samara.
Rachel desperately attempts to drown Samara, only for her boss Max (Simon Baker) to enter and see that that she's actually drowning Aidan, breaking the illusion in the process.
Between the creative visuals - which still look fantastically trippy today - and the general creepiness of the set-piece, this is the only scene from The Ring Two that actually feels worthy of its predecessor.
