10 Horror Movie Sequels You Had No Idea Were Just Released

4. The Blackwell Ghost 6 & 7

Jeepers Creepers Reborn
Turner Clay

Found footage film The Blackwell Ghost was released back in 2017, centered around a filmmaker - played by director Turner Clay himself - who attempts to prove that ghosts exist.

It became something of a cult hit in horror fandom due to both the perceived "realism" of the found footage, and Clay's imaginative use of an evidently tiny budget.

As a result, it proved successful enough for Clay to spin his 59-minute experiment into an actual franchise in its own right. Clay has worked industriously on the series ever since, enough that this year he released two sequels - The Blackwell Ghost 6 and 7.

But given that Clay releases his films direct to Amazon and seemingly covers all promotion himself, you couldn't be blamed for having no idea The Blackwell Ghost was actually A Thing beyond its original 2017 release.

While prominent critics have generally avoided reviewing the franchise as a whole, the audience reception across the sequels has remained impressively consistent, especially given that Clay is averaging more than a movie a year now.

It'll certainly be interesting to see how long he can keep the series going before the law of diminishing returns firmly kicks in. Given his talent and commitment while working on a microscopic budget, though, it's easy to root for him.
