10 Horror Movie Sequels You Probably Didn't Know Existed
4. I'll Always Know What You Did Last Summer
Scream and its subsequent franchise are responsible for many things in the horror genre, most notably by breathing life back into it, and the slasher subgenre, in the 1990s. Literally the very next year after Scream, we saw the release of another slasher in I Know What You Did Last Summer.
Just like Scream, the screenplay was written by Kevin Williamson, and it went on to be a box office success with over $100 million worldwide. With that level of success, we know what happens next... a Sequel!
But we already know about the sequel that followed, because I Still Know What You Did Last Summer still starred both Jennifer Love Hewitt and Freddie Prinze Jr, and still achieved a cinematic release.
However, despite dreadful reviews and a dwindling box office, a third film was made titled I'll Always Know What You Did Last Summer and was released eight years after the last film. The premise is nearly identical to that of the original, and currently has 0% on Rotten Tomatoes. It's most notable achievement, it appeared to launch the career of Sylvain White, director of The Losers and Stomp the Yard.
