7. The Alien Queen - The Faculty
The Faculty hits a lot of the same surprise transformation beats as The Thing, giving viewers a cast of characters who could actually be aliens hiding in plain sight.
In this case, the only way you can know for certain if someone is safe is if they ingest a specific drug and don't start sprouting tentacles. If they take it and just get high, they're still human. Consequently, there are a bunch of surprises throughout the film, but it's the grand reveal of the alien queen that's the most shocking.
In the finale, the unassuming Marybeth drops the act and transforms into the leader of the monsters, morphing into a huge mass of tentacles and teeth. It's a genuinely well done twist, as the character had previously been ruled out of being dangerous, faking taking the drug earlier in the movie.
All in all, it's glorious B-movie shlock.
