6. The Phroggers Are Just Kids - I See You
I See You starts out as a pretty typical - if effective - ghost story. Set in a small suburban town where young boys are beginning to go missing, the flick focuses on the Harper family, made up of struggling parents Greg and Jackie and their moody teenage son Connor.
Greg is in charge of investigating the disappearances, and as such it's not long before his family starts being subject to some pretty spooky shenanigans: the TV is turning on and off by itself, mugs are being thrown seemingly from nowhere, mysterious figures are locking the family in wardrobes and there's even a sneaky devil pulling the covers off them in the middle of the night. This all escalates once a hooded figure in a frog mask starts being seen around the home.
All signs point towards something of supernatural origin terrorising the family, but a mid-movie twist throws that all on its head.
It turns out that nothing supernatural has been going on at all, and all of the unexplained weirdness is actually from two people living inside the family's house. Known as 'phroggers', the pair move from house to house, hiding in the unused rooms of the families who live there.
Usually they do their best to stay unnoticed, but this time one of them started messing with the family directly, which leads him to uncover a pretty major conspiracy.
It's a brave twist, and the genre-switch ultimately results in a more twisty, dense horror story overall.
