10 Horror Movie Twists That Changed EVERYTHING

7. The Movie Is About Vampires - From Dusk Til Dawn

I had to get a classic on this list, and From Dusk Til Dawn still reigns supreme when it comes to mid-movie genre-switches.

Of course, this horror sees George Clooney and Quentin Tarantino playing two outlaws trying to get over the border to Mexico. The first hour essentially plays out like a regular crime thriller, as the pair kidnap an innocent family in their attempt to flee undetected. That is, until they make it to the Titty Twister, a bar full of vampires.

Now, the fact that this was a vampire movie wasn't entirely a secret at the time - after all, the trailer gave away that information pretty freely. However, those who didn't religiously seek out trailers in the pre-Internet age or simply sought out the flick based on the calibre of the talent (the two stars, not to mention director Robert Rodriguez and co-star Harvey Keitel, all being draws at the time) had no idea what they were letting themselves in for.

Consequently, you can find plenty of great accounts online about people going into this and being blown away by the insane second half.
