10 Horror Movie Twists That Were Hiding In Plain Sight
1. Rose Doesn't Want To Leave Any Evidence - Get Out
Get Out centres on a Black man called Chris meeting the family of his girlfriend, Rose Armitage, for the first time. Although Chris is worried his interracial relationship with Rose will pose a problem, the Armitages seemingly embrace him.
To Chris' horror, he eventually learns the Armitages are abducting Black people and swapping the brains of their elderly friends into their bodies to cheat death. However, this revelation was implied over a dozen times throughout the movie.
When a cop asks for Chris' ID, Rose goes berserk, implying the officer is racist. Although it looks like Rose is defending her boyfriend, she's avoiding a paper trail so no one will know where Chris went after her family dispose of him.
When Dean Armitage warns Chris about mould in the house, he's referring to how Chris will be "moulded" into a new form. When Dean says he likes to keep a piece of his mother in the kitchen, the camera cuts to the maid, demonstrating she has the mind of Dean's mum. The fact that the maid doesn't understand phrases like "snitch" and "rat out" prove she's from an older generation that wouldn't be familiar with modern slang.
Clues like this are so obvious on a second viewing, you can't understand how you didn't see the twist coming a mile away.
