10 Horror Movie Villain Replacements Fans REJECTED

7. Roman Bridger - Scream 3

Scream 3 is easily the weakest link in the Scream franchise. What began as a satirical, scathing and witty commentary on the horror genre as a whole began to fall into the traps it had so brilliantly made fun of.

The third of Sidney Prescott’s bloody adventures is slow, dull and lacks the bite of the first two. Perhaps worst of all, the iconic charisma - and dare I say fun - that’s often associated with Ghostface is nowhere to be seen.

Instead, we are given Roman Bridger – a two dimensional, plain and misogynistic villain with possibly the most contrived backstory one could imagine: revealed to be Sidney’s half-brother, armed with a nonsensical voice-changing device and going all Michael Bay on the cast of Stab 3.

What really doesn’t sit right with this character is that he blamed Sidney’s mother Maureen, who was sexually assaulted multiple times when working in Hollywood, for rejecting him as her child and vowed to get revenge.

Then he goes on to say he filmed all of Maureen’s affairs and showed Billy Loomis the evidence of Maureen sleeping with his father – making Roman the big baddie behind the entire franchise.

So essentially, he hated Maureen for being raped and then ruined and ended her life as a result...

Not even Carrie Fisher’s masterful cameo, which again alluded to the mistreatment of women in Hollywood, could redeem a villain who was unpleasant for all the wrong reasons, and utterly devoid of any interest to boot.

Tilly Owen hasn't written a bio just yet, but if they had... it would appear here.
