9. Mickey Altieri - Scream 2
As Ghostface killers go, there is at least something distinctive and refreshing about Scream 2's Mickey Altieri (Timothy Olyphant) - he doesn't have a personal connection to Sidney Prescott (Neve Campbell) and isn't out for revenge.
His motive? He wants to be famous. Mickey straight-up admits that he wants to be caught and immortalised in a court trial where he can blame violence in the media for his actions.
Granted, that's an especially insane reason to kill people, but Mickey's major misstep? Teaming up with someone who had a far more emotionally-charged motive.
Mickey is revealed to be working with Debbie Salt (Laurie Metcalf), who is actually Nancy Loomis, the mother of one of the first film's killers, Billy Loomis (Skeet Ulrich).
Nancy's motive is revenge for her son's death, and a bug-eyed maniac though she might be, she doesn't seem quite so eager to go to prison as her comrade.
And so, it's not remotely surprising when, moments later, Nancy shoots Mickey, revealing that she planned to pin all the killings on him all along.
Mickey literally walking around campus with a camcorder while Ghostface is recording his killings is one thing, given that he at least wanted to get caught, but partnering with someone who had fundamentally incompatible motivations with his own? So, so dumb.
