From the ancient past of 1954 comes Creature from the Black Lagoon, one of the most famous monster horror movies of all time.

Whilst on an expedition in the Amazon, a team of scientists find evidence of a amphibious humanoid living in a hidden pool of water. Rather than just leave the innocent creature alone, the humans decide to poke around a little bit.

The idea for the creature - which goes by the utterly stupid name of "Gill-Man" - was actually conceived at a dinner party during the production of Citizen Kane. Not many classic movie monsters can say that.

Naturally curious about these new arrivals, Gill-Man accidentally startles two assistants, who attempt to fend it off. Now faced with a threat, Gill-Man attacks and kills them both.

It's not his fault that these nosey scientists decided to bum around his house. How would you feel if a bunch of giant, hairless apes suddenly turned up in your living room?

In the end, the Creature gets shot to pieces, which is a sad end.

And he's not the only aquatic horror villain to meet such a fate.
