3. Borderland's Human-Sacrificing Cult

In what can only be described as the worst spring break trip in history, Borderland follows Texas grad students, Ed, Henry, and Phil, as they head south of the border to enjoy a week of strip clubs and general frat boy debauchery.

One morning, Phil doesn’t return after another night of partying, leaving his two friends confused and scared. As it turns out, Phil wasn’t out getting laid, he was kidnapped by a cartel cult practicing human sacrifices. The cult, which firmly believes the power of Nganga makes their drugs invisible to border guards, sacrifice humans in order to gain the power required to perform such an illicit illusion. However, the killing captors prefer to not kill where they eat, and, as a result, prefer to kidnap tourists instead of sacrificing their own townspeople.

The film’s sadistic murderers can only be trumped by the real deal: Adolfo de Jesús Constanzo, a drug dealing, machete-wielding cult leader responsible for the ritualized murders and dismemberments of more than 20 people, specifically American grad student, Mark Kilroy.

After moving to Mexico City and weaseling his way into relationships with cartels, dirty cops, and prominent crime families, Adolfo de Jesús Constanzo turned his love of drugs and murder into profitable business: Casting bogus spells using human sacrifice. Crediting his “magic," which apparently required people parts, for the success in his thriving side business of international drug smuggling, Constanzo formed a cult of well-connected followers who were totally on board with the whole “let’s kill ~20 people to ensure our drugs are “lucky" enough to be shipped across North America undetected."
