7. Valak
Also known as The Nun (because she looks like a Nun), Valak is the mysterious entity haunting Ed and Loraine Warren in 2016's The Conjuring 2.
She is eventually defeated when Lorraine learns her true name, which is a pretty shoddy weakness, but you try telling that to a killer ghost version of Sister Act.
The Nun proved so popular that she got her own spin-off movie just called "The Nun" in 2018, which detailed her origins. Not content with scaring the pants off of everyone for a second time, Valak is val-back in another Nun movie set for a September 2023 release.
Bonnie Aarons will once again don her wimple in a story set four years after the last prequel. Scream queen Taissa Farmiga is also back as Sister Irene, as is Jonas Bloquet as a younger version of Maurice Theriault.
Valak is one of modern horror's most recognisable villains, so it's great to see her back in her own film series. However, considering that the first Nun movie was criticised for its plot, there are some bad "habits" that team will have to break in the sequel.
