Whilst the main villain of Sam Raimi's Evil Dead series is a book - the Necronomicon to be exact - the baddies that do the most legwork across the franchise are the Deadites.

An ancient species of parasitic demon, the Deadites once had free reign over the Earth until stupid humanity came along and banished them all. Why you gotta ruin the fun, humanity?

Thanks to a certain piece of print, the Deadites gained access back to our world in the original Evil Dead film and Ash Williams has been dealing with them ever since.

However, Bruce Campbell will get a break in the upcoming film Evil Dead Rise, which will see two new protagonists take on his fight.

Alyssa Sutherland and Lily Sullivan are set to play Ellie and Beth respectively, two sisters who must defend their family from the other-worldly menace. Evil Dead Rise is set for a April 21st 2023 cinematic release, having been saved from an HBO Max only debut.

With both Raimi and Campbell signed on as executive producers, expect plenty more gory fun from the masters of wise-cracking horror.
