Jamie Lee Curtis was named the Greatest Scream Queen of All Time this past week, and with good reason! With 11 horror films under her belt and more to come, Curtis has balanced being a Hollywood heavyweight and a cult cinema icon together with ease. On the promotional trail for 2018's Halloween sequel, Curtis told of how loyal and loving the horror community is, and how she had no hesitation stepping back into the series at age 59. She is proud of her scream queen roots and continues to honour them.

Well, proud of everything except one. And it's a film Curtis has been quite vocal about regretting. When one sees the film, it's hard to disagree with her. Halloween: Resurrection was released four years after the triumphant return of the Halloween franchise with Halloween H20. The fact Michael Myers had been beheaded in that previous entry was hardly an obstacle.

Halloween: Resurrection met with critical scorn and is often viewed as the lowest point in the franchise, with nonsensical writing, grating characters and a seemingly pointless cameo by Jamie Lee Curtis.

Here, Curtis chooses to end her association with the character Laurie Strode, having her killed off in the first ten minutes of the film, but that didn't stop the film's marketing campaign taking full advantage of Curtis' presence. She was front-and-centre on all the posters and even forced to do a press tour promoting the film.

Curtis has since made clear she did the film as a contractual obligation to bookend her character, having grown tired of studio meddling in the series. "A joke," as Curtis states, the film is a sad, anticlimactic finale to an iconic horror heroine. With Curtis feeling the same way many audience members felt, one can't help but wonder if righting Resurrection was a factor in her 2018 return?
