10 Horror Movies Actors Wanted You To Hate

3. David Howard Thornton - Terrifier 2 (2022)

Bloody Disgusting

Terrifier 2 proves above all else that audiences still have an appetite for the kind of splatter films many critics assumed to have gone extinct with the gradual demise of the Hostel and Saw series.

Sequel to indie slasher Terrifier (2016), Terrifier 2 sees star David Howard Thornton don the clown suit again, returning as the ironically named Art. Resurrected by sinister entity the Little Pale Girl (Amelie McLain), Art the Clown returns to his old stomping ground in Miles County to terrorise and, yes, terrify a teenage girl and her brother on Halloween. He beats, he bludgeons and he burns his way through two hours and twenty minutes of gore, which, according to Thornton -- and a $12 million return at the box office on a $250k budget -- is exactly what audiences turn up for.

While aware that he and writer-director Damien Leone were pushing the boundaries of taste throughout production, Thornton dedicated himself to one-upping the first film by making Art, all of his actions, and the level of detail on screen, something the average audience member would be thoroughly disgusted by.
