10 Horror Movies Everyone Skips In A Franchise

3. Hostel: Part III

Hostel Part III
Sony Pictures Home Entertainment

Hostel: Part II isn't as gripping as the original, but that doesn't mean it's not without merit. The opening is so shocking, it's guaranteed to catch anybody off-guard. It also contains some unsettling death sequences that's sure to satiate gore-hounds (especially the literal blood-bath scene).

Hostel: Part III, on the other hand, is such a lifeless cash-grab, it killed Eli Roth's grisly saga then and there.

Set in Las Vegas, this needless instalment trades eerie atmosphere for an uncreative setting that lacks any real tension. The characters are forgettable, the acting is mediocre at best, and the plot twists are insultingly predictable. The torture scenes are watered down, so die-hard fans will have little incentive to give Part III a go. The practical effects are unconvincing and the kills seem more gimmicky than gruelling.

The biggest issue is how Hostel: Part III fails miserably to justify its existence. It adds nothing new to the visceral saga and lacks the brutality or suspense that made the first two films engaging.

Once the credits roll, it's obvious the Hostel brand should've quit while it was ahead.
