6. The Boogeyman
Stephen King adaptations have been enjoying something of a renaissance in recent years, especially on streaming, and next up is a film based on King's acclaimed 1973 short story The Boogeyman.
Rising director Rob Savage (Host, Dashcam) will tackle the project, in which a teenage girl (Madison Hu) and her younger sister (Vivien Lyra Blair) are haunted by a malevolent presence in their home following the death of their mother.
It'll certainly be interesting to see Savage veer away from his computer screen horror filmmaking format for a more conventionally told genre offering, and given the love for King's story, it should make for an enticingly eerie romp.
As for the supporting cast, it's blessed with the solid likes of Sophie Thatcher, David Dastmalchian, and Chris Messina.
The Boogeyman releases on Hulu sometime next year.
